What I would do to get my first fitness client.

Securing your first fitness client can feel like a monumental task, but it’s entirely achievable with the right approach. Here’s a detailed plan on how to attract and close that first sale.

1. Share the Benefits of Your Offer

When you’re trying to attract your first client, it’s crucial to focus on the benefits of your offer rather than listing every single feature. Create content that speaks directly to your ideal client and clearly communicates how you will help them achieve their goals.

Instead of saying, "I offer meal plans, workout routines, and weekly check-ins," explain how your program will transform their lives: "Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that fits your lifestyle, helping you lose weight, build muscle, and feel more energetic."

2. Build Connection Through Actual Conversations

Don’t feel pressured to constantly sell. Focus on building genuine connections. Understand that you can't help everyone, and it’s essential to connect first to ensure you can genuinely assist them.

Engage with potential clients in conversations without the immediate goal of making a sale. Ask questions about their goals, struggles, and past experiences. Show that you care about their success and that you're there to help.

The Power of One Client

Just one client is all you need to get the validation you need. You can do this, but no matter what you do or say, you might find it challenging to close that first sale or even know where to start. I got you. Please have a seat; let’s chat.

The market is saturated - we all know that. To close that first sale, you need to settle into your foundational offer and know it inside and out. It is quite literally your child, and you need to love it so much that everyone else sees and knows it.

Know Your Ideal Clients

Before you can effectively sell your services, you need to know who your ideal clients are. This goes beyond the standard "I help" statements. Who are you really for? Who do you vibe with? And who will you not work with?

Understanding this will help you tailor your messaging and connect more deeply with potential clients. You want your ideal clients to see your content and think, "Wow, this person really gets me."

Avoid the Long Lists

Before you copy the list of things included in your program from the notes on your phone, don’t. Just don’t. Focus on the transformation and the journey you’ll take together.

Evaluating and Rebuilding

Closing that first sale and adding that first client to your roster will set the tone for your business. If you aren’t seeing ideal clients in your DMs or applications coming in, it’s time to evaluate and see what is going on. Possibly even rebuild bigger and better.

Take the time to understand what might be going wrong and make the necessary adjustments. This could mean refining your offer, changing your marketing strategy, or even rethinking your ideal client profile.

Remember, the journey to getting your first client is about connection, clarity, and confidence. Love your offer, know your clients, and focus on the value you bring to their lives. Once you land that first client, you’ll set a solid foundation for your growing fitness business.
